Banquet postponed from 3/13 to 3/14

In view of the weather, tonight's banquet is being postponed, tentatively for tomorrow night at 6:30.  The snow is supposed to slow down a little in the evening, but I think just to be safe it would be better to wait with the banquet and avoid the drive after dark if possible.

Weather.com has the chance of snow dropping to 10% by tomorrow at 6 PM, so hopefully that will work out for everyone.  If it turns out that we can't do it tomorrow, we will probably have to look for a date after spring break.  Sorry if it causes hassles with your schedules, but I think it's worth it based on potential road conditions.

False Alarm - NO Swim Practice

There is NO swim practice this week.  Parkside's pool is under repair this year and there is not good availability in other area pools.  Sorry about the confusion.

STATE BOUND

Congratulations to Lucas for qualifying for state for the third time!  We will be taking a group up and making arrangements for travel as soon as possible, so I would like to hear from every wrestler if he is coming with the group or not by Monday morning if possible.

Here is what we are thinking:
Since Lucas took first at sectionals, he only has to weigh in on Thursday, not wrestle.  We are planning on coaches going up with Lucas on Thursday afternoon.  Coach Swanson would drive a van with managers and wrestlers who want to come, probably leaving around the beginning of school on Friday.  They would go straight to the Kohl Center and we would check into the hotel when we have a break between matches.  This would allow wrestlers to only have to pay for one hotel night, which I'm guessing would be $30-40 per wrestler.

Wrestlers who come will be responsible for:
- Share of hotel cost ($35)
- Entrance tickets to the Kohl Center (3-4 sessions @ $8 each)
- Food (breakfast is provided at the hotel)

Again, if I can get a definite indication if you would like to come along by Monday morning, that will help us plan ahead.

Dec. 19 Wrestling at Wilmot Cancelled

Wilmot has just informed us that with a forecast of 7+ inches of snow tonight and tomorrow morning, they are cancelling the tournament tomorrow.

With the snow forecasted to begin this afternoon, we are also cancelling this afternoon's practice.

Wrestlers, do your best to get some conditioning in.  God's blessings on your weekend!

Parent / Coach Resources

Here are some resources for parents of athletes to help them "keep the fun" in sports as they compete.  There are a number of free resources available on the web site.  I've looked at a few of them, and they seem worthwhile and fit in with our program's goal of promoting the overall welfare and development of the athlete.  Enjoy!

A good read on the importance of high school wrestling.
